The Bears' Bungalow is a joint effort of two gentlemen. Both of us moved to California from different parts of the United States. Alan (that's me above with my lovable dog, the late Peggy Sue) purchased the property 31 years ago when I was a top producing sales manager for a leading company of home products. In 2016, I decided to move to a larger Big Bear home, but I didn't want to sell this property which I had come to love, so I decided to turn it into a vacation rental home. With my main job taking up most days, I hired a property manager by the name of David. He was a real estate instructor for a business school in Orange County. One of his students lived in Big Bear. After David helped her pass her California real estate license exam, she invited him to visit Big Bear for a weekend. That was all it took. He purchased a weekend retreat in Big Bear and loved it. After about a month or two of leaving the big city life every Friday afternoon, then driving back down the mountain on Monday morning into that brown haze, crowded freeways, and crime, he quit his Orange County job, and moved to Big Bear full-time. He also decided to sell his properties in LA, Orange County and San Diego, then use the profits to purchase other rentals up here on the mountain.
David is one of those workaholics, who isn't happy unless he's busy all the time. Through mutual friends, I learned David was interested in taking on additional vacation properties to manage. What a find he has turned out to be. Each of us loves this town, and it is our sincere desire that you experience the same joy while in Big Bear. Each of us is a "people person." We will do what we can to make your stay in the Bears Bungalow something special.
David is the individual who helps guests through the inquiry and booking process. He finalizes the reservation, then emails directions and our check-in procedures. I try to meet guests on their arrival, give them a short orientation and hand them the key.
