Starting with the positives: Fantastic location, with beautiful views, and a lovely looking villa and well heated pool. Unfortunately our stay was severely marred by poor maintenance and management.
1. Checkin/out: We were given no instructions on how to find the keybox. We called the agency who gave us the wrong info. Eventually we found it but it was missing the gate key so we still could not get in - we had to wait for the agent to bring the right keys up. On checkout, we were told to take the keys to the agency office, which was closed for a public holiday. There was no labelled drop box and no-one would answer the phone numbers provided. We had to return to the villa to put the keys into the keybox, making us late for our flight.
2. Electrics: The first day, we lost power. The agency could not help and thus we had no power until the next afternoon after electricians came and replaced half of the boiler. We lost all our chilled/frozen food + half a day of holiday having to stay in. The power went again the next day when simply using the toaster! There were exposed electrics both on the balcony and in the upstairs twin bedroom closet.
3. Pool: The pool was full of sunken leaves and surface scum. It clearly had not be cleaned for weeks. The agency did not know when it was last cleaned and could only say it 'should' be cleaned the next day. I spent an hour cleaning it myself with a broken net as the pool cleaner did not turn up for another couple of days.
4. Facilities: No satellite TV as advertised in the lounge (no satellite box or appropriate cables). TV downstairs didn't turn on. No bath plug so no baths. Smells from the upstairs plumbing.
We have raised all of this with both the host and the agency used by the host (Quality Estates in Calonge). Whilst the agency did resolve the power outage as quick as they could, they weren't apologetic and ignored / dismissed the other complaints above. Out of courtesy, I messaged the host prior to writing this review, but disappointingly had no response. We have now raised a complaint with Vrbo too, although I suspect there is little they can do.
We paid over £1,600 for a week in this villa. We were offered no reimbursements for our issues. If you get lucky, you'll have a great stay. If not, you'll be very disappointed. It's a lot of money to be taking that kind of risk and, sadly, we will not be doing so again.
