Hop, skip, jump

Admirals Quarters was worth the price. The suite was on the main floor - no stairs to negotiate and adjacent to deck with view of bay and town. Restaurants, shops, and attractions were an easy walk from the house - great location. So might mention the view comes at a price - a steep driveway - but we just looked at the climb as a fitness bonus.

Good Stay

My wife and I had a nice three-night stay at Pilot House. The location in Bayfield is fantastic with close walking access to the main commercial area and the bayfront. Booking was easy, communication with owners was quick and easy, and access to the building was simple. Our room, "Admiral's Quarters,' was clean, comfortable and good-sized, with nice views of the lake. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is pleasantly large and bright, with a good shower and good sized walk-in closet. The public area of the B&B is beautiful, incorporating two sitting areas, a fireplace and the dining/kitchen area, also with beautiful views of Lake Superior and Madeline Island. We would certainly recommend, though just a few things prevent a five-star review. (1) The "Admiral's Quarters" room is a bit dated and could use a modernizing and brightening spruce-up. Other rooms in Pilot House may be worth checking out. (2) The breakfast part of B&B was a bit underwhelming, consisting of self-serve-from-the-fridge store-purchased muffins, yogurts and juices. Coffee is made in your room. It served us fine, but be aware if you are used to more elaborate B&B breakfast spreads; (3) there is a small outdoor deck with a lovely view that also could use some sprucing up to make more inviting. All-in-all, a very pleasant stay in a beautiful home at a great location that we would recommend.

Great people, great shops, great restaurants, great fishing guides, great boat tours of the Apostle Islands and light houses, great kayaking, great cross country sking and down hill sking (just 3.5 miles south of Bayfield, great dog sledding, great concerts at the Big Top. Come visit and see what we see daily! You will love Bayfield.

You are just 1-2 blocks from everything including the Madeline Island Ferry, Coffee Shop, Restaurants, shops, charter sail boats, memorial park, east park, museums, and more! The Pilot House with (4) large luxurious rental suites was built in 1994 and rests on the former sight of The Island View Hotel so you have awesome views, and you can walk to everything. You won't have to move your car. Private parking just steps from the main entrance door. Come and go as you please! Your going to love the sunshine glistening off the waters of Lake Superior as the colorful Sail Boats & Madeline Island Ferry come and go to and from the Bayfield harbor. Come & Enjoy!

Two doors to the Admiral's Quarters, 1 inside and 1 leads out to the East Deck with Lake Views. Guest's enjoy the use of common areas such as the Living Room and Octagon Room with Lake views, 2 Large outdoor Decks with views of the Madeline Island Ferry, sail boats, and downtown Bayfield, WI. Outdoor lawn chairs with great views as well! Main level high ceilings extend 10', and in the Lake View Octagon Window Room the ceiling is over 15'. Grape juice, yogurt, blueberry muffins in mini-refrigerator in dining room.
