Chateau Gentilly kan skryta med 2 öppen spisar, vinkla i den formella matsalen och en stor trätrappa och banister! Huset har också ett rymligt, helt nytt kök med bänkskivor i granit och alla nya apparater i rostfritt stål!
10 sovplatser (alla sängar) bekvämt! ENORMT vardagsrum med en 7 fot hög öppen spis! Formella matsalsplatser 12; Frukost / förvaringsrum har plats för 7 och har en plattskärms HD-TV; Stort, helt renoverat kök, fullt utrustat med allt nödvändigt och gratis lokalt kaffe! Gentilly Gem!

The pictures on the site do this property no justice. Much more than our group expected and plenty of space and roomy for us. The moment we pulled up the home is in a great and safe neighborhood. The hostess called me early to check and was very inviting and responded very quick if we needed anything! Property very clean and would definitely stay here again!

Nice quiet neighborhood, centrally located in the Gentilly area. 15 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes to the French Quarter, 5 minutes to City Park. Great for larger family/group. The patio is perfect for a morning coffee and and evening glass of wine. Large formal dining room easily seats 10. We stayed here for my father's 72nd birthday, he loved the classic wood features and large fireplaces inside.

Misrepresented, dirty home

This is an old home and arriving on a rainy afternoon, it was difficult to find light switches, etc. There were no lamps, just a few overhead lights with several bulbs burnt out. After figuring out how to turn on the few lights, we began to move in our bags. The kitchen counters were sticky and crumbs were everywhere, so first thing I had to do was clean the kitchen. It took five minutes to get hot water in the kitchen sink. It's a huge kitchen but only two bar stools and three chairs around the kitchen chair. The property also offers a fireplace, but in reality, it's just a huge opening, and the manager said "Nobody has ever asked to use it, not sure if it works." The five bedrooms were a disaster, barely any working plugs, no lamps, dark, dusty and floors were dirty, carpet looked disgusting. No night table or lamp in the master bedroom. Tub/showers were not very clean and paint was chipping in all the tubs, making them unusable for a bath. One shower/tub was completely clogged so we bought draino to help clear it. It didn't work. One night table had potato chips on it. Plugs were actually falling out of the wall and every television set had to be set up, paired and programmed to work. The manger came by and sent an electrician to fix plugs and add some lights. It helped a little, but didn't erase the frustration we felt during the first two days. Closet shelves were covered in sawdust and filth, and the lights completely quit working in the billiard room after a few days. The biggest misconception about this home was the upstairs bathroom situation. I expected the shared bathroom to be in the hall but you had to go through someone's bedroom to use a bathroom during the night. A couple of us ended up going downstairs to the very dark half bath during the middle of every night. It's actually a three-bedroom house with a couple of beds for small children who do not need a bathroom. Other things in the kitchen, all the cabinets were filled with stuff, junk, very messy and dirty. There was adequate supply of dishes and silverware but no tea kettle and no kitchen towels. We bought lightbulbs, extension cords and draino to try to make this place work. With it being Christmas week and there were 7 of us, we had no other options. Especially since we paid in full in advance. I've asked for a partial refund and am still waiting to the hear. I am not hopeful that we will recoup any of our money. This is my last VRBO and will never rent a home again.

Chateau Gentilly is ideal because there is off-street parking for over 10 cars! and located only 2 houses from a Broad line bus stop (the MAIN bus route through character-rich New Orleans!). This one bus goes through gorgeous New Orleans neighborhoods and directly to Canal Street where there's shopping, restaurants and more!

*Less than 10 minute drive to the French Quarters/ Downtown CBD
*Just 8 minutes to City Park, which has magnificent flora along the pathways of the Botanical Garden, boating on Big Lake and the beautiful Couturie Forest! It holds everything from bike paths and fishing lagoons, to an amusement park!
