Re-imagined Charlevoix Michigan Mushroom House, en halmtak romantisk tillflyktsort!

Chalet är en mysig tillflyktsort vid stranden av Lake Michigan ... Och är en del av en mer expansiv egendom (se listor över Large Thatch House, Sunset Villa, VRBO-lista # 892820 och The Cottage # 892824).

Beläget bakom huvudhuset, är stugan helt separat utan tillgång från huvudbyggnaden. Med sin egen privata ingång erbjuder Chalet en "hemlig gömställe" gjord för den romantiska i hjärtat ... Perfekt för smekmånader från Castle Farms, jubileumsfirande, romantiska födelsedagsresor och så mycket mer!

En "magisk" spiraltrappa leder till det avskilda parets sovrum på lägre nivå, medan barnen kan leka och sova på nivån ovan, på "loftet".

Köket och vardagsrummet erbjuder rustik charm, som är handgjord av "okända små mystiska hantverkare" som arbetar sent på natten med ljus. Det sägs att om man sitter tyst på en månbelyst natt kan dessa magiska nissar upptäckas genom att kontrollera Chalet för att säkerställa att allt fortfarande är i perfekt skick ....

Den charmiga stugan kan avnjutas som en romantisk tillflyktsort för ett par som hittar sin master svit ner och ett vardagsrum och skräddarsytt kök ovanför, eller för familjebesökare, finns det den fantastiska mattan loftet med två enkelsängar. På bottenvåningen finns också en futon i full storlek som fungerar som en säng tillsammans med ett halvt badkar.

Promenera till den vita sandstranden på dagen, bara några steg från din dörr, för att njuta av den vackra sjön, eller gå 3 eller 4 minuter till stan för shopping och restauranger. Du går till den vackra marinan / parken i Charlevoix på under 5 år! Allt lägger till en mycket avkopplande vistelse.

För de som är intresserade av långa träningspass finns det vackra vandringsleder och cykelleder och till och med 2 fitnesscenter i närheten. Chalet ligger nära stranden och gör den idealisk för dem som tycker om vattensporter. Under sommarmånaderna hyrs paddelbräden precis vid stranden.

ADORABLE & UNIQUE!

My husband and I (and 1 yr old shitzu) stayed 2 nights in the Mushroom House. We enjoyed every single moment in this super clean, unique, beautiful home. We felt as if we were in a storybook fairytale elfin village! Even the floors are heated! Beds are comfy, (all furniture was comfortable.) We will definitely go back, probably for an anniversary, since this was a honeymoon stay. Love love love this place!

Thatch House Chalet

This is a very interesting and fun property to visit. It was well appointed and well equipped (including an outside grill) and the property managers were superb in every way. The garden and sitting areas outside provided additional and private space plus were photo beautiful. If you add that this property is convenient and in walking distance to everything in Charlevoix: beach, shops , and restaurants then it checks all boxes.

My "Mushroom House ensemble" consists of 4 distinct properties, all "rescued" Earl Young houses. Earl Young is the famous eccentric builder/architect who lined the Park Avenue stretch in front of Michigan Beach Park with his wonderful creations.

The main house of my "mushroom house compound". is called The Thatch House (304 Park Ave). It was Earl Young's first home that he built for himself and his family. Part of this property was an old carriage house behind the main house. Both properties were in deplorable shape. Most potential buyers assumed they needed to be torn down, but I fell in love with them, and with the spirit of Earl Young that's on display along this beautiful stretch of Park Avenue. I bought the house and carriage house in 2013. Inspired, I also bought "Applecore" (8003 Mt McSauba Rd), a "Mushroom House" designed and built by Earl Young's daughter Virginia. This beautiful house sat empty for 9 years. The cottage (305 Clinton St), which shares the grounds with the main house on Park Ave, was also added to complete the collection.
I vowed to restore these properties. The house on Park Avenue was a special case, and I knew that with this property I would be going beyond, way beyond, merely restoring it. "Re-imagining" was a word used often in the extensive media coverage the building of this house generated—its iconic thatch roof has now become somewhat of a tourist attraction. For the carriage house I saw potential for use as a charming "chalet". It now shares the thatch roof of the main house—although it's otherwise separate, with its own private entrances.

My accountants told me I was crazy. And I knew they were right, but I did it anyway. It was a labor of love. That's why I didn't spare time nor expense to turn these properties into the best they could be. I wanted to do justice to the spirit of Earl Young and I hope I gave the people of Charlevoix and its visitors something to enjoy and be proud of...

Charlevoix town, just a few blocks away, bustles with energy and lively excitement.... With round lake as a breathtaking back drop.
