This property is completely and 100% totally misrepresented in the listing. The listing makes this house look beautiful and the listed amenities are attractive. In reality, this house seems to have been an abandoned home. In real life, the property looks nothing like its listed condition. It was filthy, old, dilapidated, and looked as if no one had been in the home or cleaned the home for months. I will be handing this with VRBO as the owner has taken my complaints very personally and wants to blame me, the renter, for being unreasonable. I rent high-end premium properties all the time through VRBO. I took a chance on this property even though it had no reviews because of the listing--the photos are wonderful. But, they might have been taken a decade ago. The outdoor furniture is in disrepair, the house is full of cobwebs, water fixtures don't function, windows don't close, etc. I could go on and on and I have taken an entire library of photographs for documentation and for processing my request for a refund. The owner has asked me: "if you were so unhappy, why didn't you leave?" Well, getting a similar property booked on no notice is hard during the Christmas week and our monies were already paid. We even VENMO'd the owner additional monies to stay an extra day believing that the stay would be incredible. To say the least, it was adequate but not deserving of the high premium paid for an oceanfront, 7000 square foot home. We did stay and we made do and we had a nice Christmas vacation. But, this isn't about the quality of my vacation. This is about the quality of the listing, the safety of the home (some of the windows have no hardware with which to close them), and the integrity of the VRBO rental process. The owner will leave a review of me that voices his displeasure with my complaints. But, this house is not what is appears to be and renters should be made aware of this. VRBO needs to know about it so that it can continue to provide accuracy in the homes it lists. I have no ill will toward the owner. In fact, it may very well be that he/she lives very distant from the home and has been victim of a fraudulent management and or cleaning team. But, that is not my problem. My problem is that I was not given the services that I paid for and, as such, will demand a partial refund. I did stay in the home--there is no debate. But, I stayed in a home that was far from the one I wanted to rent. You can message me for photos.
