Liked how close it was to a quiet beach
The property was nice and clean to start off with. We did run into a problem at the beginning with only having one working shower when advertised as a 2 bath due to a crack in the second tub. We were offered our money back once we had already checked in but didn’t want the hassle of trying to find another condo. The owner did send us a $100 check for our troubles but a one bath condo would have been cheaper than a $100 discount. The owner did remain in constant contact with us about a contractor coming to look at the tub and we volunteered to be there when he arrived so that a stranger wasn’t in our condo without us. The overall condo was very nice and spacious. We loved the screened in balcony that overlooked the ocean. The condo was stocked with just about anything you needed for a day at the beach. If you do rent this condo, don’t forget to look in the second bedroom closet because there are more beach items in there that we didn’t discover under the last day. We loved having the washer and dryer in the unit I which we could wash up anything we wanted easily. The condo is on the south part of the island which is very quiet which we loved. It was almost like a private beach at times. There are a lot of sea shells and sand dollars. The condo is only about a block from a small shopping center with lots of restaurants and a 7-11 is nearby for snacks. If the bath was fixed, I would give this property 5 stars but was a hassle with 2 teenage daughters and 1 shower for all of us.
I wasn’t aware of the cracked tub until the maintenance manager informed me of the ceiling below leaking the afternoon before they arrived.
To change out the tub would take a couple days and ruin their vacation. They agreed to stay in spite of the leaky tub and I offered them compensation. I don’t agree that They could find a more affordable property for less than $100 I compensated them for.
What a view!
Overall very good! A nice quiet condo with plentiful parking. Great location on the south side of island where traffic was lighter. Thanks for the tip to enter from the south side to avoid traffic. Definitely a time saver. A little confusion in the beginning trying to figure out how to turn the water on (apparently cleaning people forgot to do this) but we figured it out. The owner has offered to reimburse us for the inconvenience. Condo was very well stocked. Thanks for the extra beach chairs, they came in handy! And, oh my, the view! We were able to watch the sunset right from the balcony! We loved the “bay window” shape of the balcony for a 180 degree view. Only thing I would prefer is a king bed in the master. Other than that, the condo was very comfortable with plenty of room. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and would stay here again!
Beautiful location with a homely feel
Beautiful location overlooking a stunning beach and ocean.
This was our fourth year at the Riviera Club and it didn't disappoint!
The facilities are great, BBQ, Club House, large swimming pool and toilets - we loved it.
The apartment on the 8th floor has unrestricted views, well stocked with kitchen utensils, towels, bedding, everything we could possibly need.
It was very comfortable and felt like home for the 3 weeks we were there.
Added bonuses were the TV's in both bedrooms (great for 2 teenage girls!) and the sofabed in the living room meant that the apartment could accommodate our party of 5.
We had a fantastic holiday and came home feeling relaxed and refreshed.
The owner was very helpful and answered my emailed questions promptly considering our time difference and I would definitely recommend this property to family and friends and we will definitely visit again.
Great Location / Amazing Views / Well Equipped
This condo was in the perfect location on the southern end of Ft Myers Beach. There is a small lagoon that forms between the shoreline and houses/condos that actually carries over into the dry season. Riviera Club is on the northern tip of this lagoon. This made getting to the beach so easy. If you stay any further south on the island you have to walk way around the lagoon to get to the beach.
There are not many rental condo's that are located in the upper floors of buildings. You definitely want to stay here! We were able to sit on the balcony and watch dolphins out front. Those on the beach did not even see them in the water!
The unit was very well equipped. Jeff has two bikes there for us to use, which we did. There is plenty of beach items to use - umbrella (you will want this!), floaties, etc. Also there is plenty of towels, kitchen items, washer/dryer in unit and such that made life so easy for us. There is also a pool and hot tub in this complex which is a great alternative.
This unit is in a great location for both on-island activities and off-island fun. There is a small shopping center about 2 blocks away that has 5 different places to eat (two of which have bars) so the evening meal is within walking distance. If you want to go into town it is a short drive or trolley ride away. Off island (definitely use the south bridge) we made a day trip to the Everglades very easily. We found more things to do than we actually had time for! It is well worth it to rent a power boat and explore the mangroves; Lovers Key State Park has kayaks for rent - we saw baby dolphins and manatee during our venture; Sanibel Island and so much more.
Here is a hint for extra fun: walk the beach at low tide. You will be amazed at the creatures that are only visible during low tide!
As for those of you who are looking for those unique shells - this is a great beach for them. We found better shells on this beach than those on the famous Sanibel beaches. Please be respectful though and do not take live shells - yes there are lots of shells that are still being used by their owners!
Finally, Jeff was great to work with. He was very responsive to my inquiries / questions.
Great Condo but UGLY Dirty Ocean Water
This was our first trip to Ft. Myers Beach. We stayed at many other Florida Beaches (gulf side) and found this condo to be one of the cleanest. We were pleasantly surprised that it had so many daily essencials that were needed. I was very happy to find beach chairs, umbrellas, bikes and much more. HOWEVER, I was extremely dissapointed with the ocean water. The beach had beautiful white sand (as the Gulf Beaches do) and the water the color of mud. You could not see the bottom of the ocean at all, not even in the shallowest part. We could not snorkle or scuba dive. We did not even get in the water. We used the pool and also drove to another city about an hour away to use their beach- which was clear. We went to the public beach down the street to see if the water was any clearer; it was not. We were told that they let water out of some lake and that was the reason for the ugly dirty water and it happens when needed throughout the year. The condo was great. The rental company was great. The ocean water was not. I would have not chosen Ft. Myers Beach had I known that this was going to be a problem. So if you are an ocean lover- check it out first. Also, I do not recommend Capt. Tony's Fishing for deep sea fishing. You spend 3/4 of time riding in a boat, not fishing. Hope you find this helpful. I always read these things before making a decision.
Just prior to their arrival, the Okeechobee basin experienced what is considered a "perfect storm". Months of above-average rainfall and rising water levels in the shallow lake prompted the Corps of Engineers to fully open locks around the lake to keep the water from rising too high and to relieve pressure on the Herbert Hoover Dike, parts of which date to the 1930s. The Corps stated that July capped the wettest start to the wet season since 1968, and the last four months have been the wettest April-through-July time period since 1932, according to the South Florida Water Management District. The Corps has reinforced a 21-mile stretch of the dike between Belle Glade and Port Mayaca, and it replaced 32 culverts and other weakened structures. Rocks and boulders also were stockpiled near the lake in case of a breach. They believe a recurrence is unlikely given the safe guards put in place
