Nice property. Awful organisation, and communication.
The villa was as described. Pretty with character and everything worked efficiently, albeit our room a little jaded. Other appt looked muchbetter.
However, I will share our experience: We had Matisse. I tried in vain to contact owner for several weeks before holiday. No response to emails. Spoke to HomeAway who gave me 3 more phone numbers. (Last contact with owner in January - email said would be met by Sylvia on arrival & were given a number.) Still no response. On arrival rang Sylvia several times. No response. Resigned ourselves to it being a scam and headed for the address given. ( No other instructions.) On arrival no one to meet us. Thankfully the only other couple staying told us where they had found their key and we found ours there too! On envelope a note to say how much tax we needed to pay and instructions for paying it.
On entering room, no linen, despite it clearly stating on website that it was provided. ( And me trying to contact to check.)Rang 4 different numbers, including a different one for Sylvia!
No answer. Eventually someone rang back. ( We think agent?) Told me to look in a cupboard on the landing! I found some old grey sheets- fitted and a little small- towels and a couple of pillow cases that were far too large, but at 700pm we were grateful for anything! Good job we didn’t arrive at midnight! Also, welcome letter hoped we would enjoy our holiday & in bold letters stated: ‘THIS IS NOT A HOTEL. Please buy your own garbage bags.’ ( Maybe the sentiment was lost in translation!). Well, the only provision was ONE loo roll, salt & pepper! Not even washing up liquid/ soap...Nothing. To be fair it didn’t say it would be! There was a selection of crockery but just one bowl & one pasta bowl so ate cereal out of those! I found a hairdryer & iron in linen cupboard on the landing which was useful.
Next day Sylvia messages to say we owe €78 for the linen! I asked her to check with owner as we thought it was included. I laundered sheets myself a week later! 10 days later we caught up with Sylvia when she came in to clean an appt. she was very pleasant & at brunt of complaints. I managed to show her screen shots of invoice and description as evidence that we shouldn’t be paying for linen. She said she’d talk to owner & I have just received my deposit back so I assume all ok. (Strangely, iron & hairdryer went from cupboard the day Sylvia came to clean.) Seems problems with agent! Despite this we didn't let it spoil our hols. Lovely area
