This was perhaps the finest gîte experience we have had anywhere in France. First, the houses. There are 3 houses on the property. We stayed in the Cottage Reinette. It is just a superb restoration of a traditional Norman timbered farmhouse. The attention to detail and the care taken to preserve historic features of the house we're most impressive. Your hosts, Florence and Jean, are to be congratulated for what they have accomplished. Moreover, the quality of the furnishings far exceeds the normal gîte. The comfortable, beautifully upholstered furniture in the lounge was a godsend after a hard day of touring, and the wood burning stove in the fireplace made for very pleasant autumn evenings. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped with everything a talented chef might need and the comfortable dining room chairs made mealtimes a special pleasure.
Sleeping was very restful and quiet with very high quality mattresses and bedding all provided for you. Then there is the garden and grounds of the property. Both were just beautiful. The owners clearly have a keen artistic sense when it comes to gardens. The landscaping, maintenance, and especially the fruit bearing trees, made outdoor relaxation a special treat. If the circumstances permit by all means take the time to get to know Florence and Jean. They are a very special couple, speak flawless English, and are exceptionally friendly and hospitable. If you are in search of a quiet country retreat where you can kick back and contemplate what really matters in life, this is the gîte for you. And all the major Norman tourist attractions are only an hour or 90 mins away. Very much recommended. We hope to return often.
