We had a lovely, relaxing family holiday at this homely villa. We were met by the lovely Dalia late on a Sunday evening in July and she had kindly purchased us some basic food items to get us started.
The villa is modern and large with air-con in every room. We were an adults and teenagers group and never felt crowded - Wi-fi for the teens was a huge plus.
We spent a lot of time just enjoying the villa and pool and relaxing. Most nights we ate on the terrace and either bbq’d or cooked on the hot stone plate.
We ventured to one of the local beaches and took the ferry boat across but, to be honest, it was just too busy for us as high season, and we soon escaped back to our own pool. Vilamoura was a good day/eve out for people and boat watching and, the food at the restaurant overlooking the marina was excellent. We also had a light lunch in the square at Moncarapacho which was very pleasant.
The light pollution at the villa is minimal and one of the highlights of our stay was the stargazing. We were also lucky enough to watch the total lunar eclipse from the terrace which was pretty spectacular.
A car here is essential. The ‘urbanizacio’ where the villa is situated is great if you want to be away from it all, which we did, but there are no shops or facilities within walking distance. Also, we should mention that there is some building still going on close by but there was very little noise. It does mean the roads aren’t yet the best but we didn’t have any issues.
If we were to offer some constructive criticism there’s a couple of things we’d have preferred: for larger families, twin beds in at least one of the sofa bed rooms; mugs for large cups of English tea (we bought some as there were only coffee cups) also, breakfast cereal bowls for us English people 😊 ; instructions for equipment would be useful though we managed to work everything out and also details of recycling etc. A guide to where the nearest shops, pharmacy, hospital etc would be extremely helpful.
In Olhão, we found a huge Jumbo supermarket with free underground parking where we purchased most of our essentials. There is also a pharmacy next door. There’s an Aldi and a Lidl in town too.
All in all we had a fab holiday at this lovely villa and would hope to be able to return to Quelfes in the future.
