My husband and I would ride up to the Rock Inn during weekends and wonder, can we really live up here. Two years earlier we had put an offer on a home up here and 15 minutes before the owners were to sign an all cash offer came in and our dreams were dashed. It took me two years before I even wanted to look up here again. One day we decided to stop and check out this home. At the time we were also contemplating a restaurant in Kernville. Craig ended up with spinal meningitis so everything was put on hold. While recovering my second father was visiting and we told him about the home. He thought the home was a better idea then the restaurant. Since Craig was still recovering from the morphine, he said yes and allowed me to make an offer. I loved that the home had such a nice yard and a two car garage which we had never had and is now the the Dirty Dog saloon. And of course, The long porch and the huge oak tree was a selling point.
Being from the city it took me awhile to distinguish nature noises. With time, silence was golden.
